After graduating with a BA in Art & Design from Harrow Art College London, my professional career was primarily
concerned with illustration for publishing and advertising,
specialising in figurative work.
My preferred medium is watercolour, which for me captures
the essence and quality of a subject through the jewellike
reflection of light and colour on paper. I am redefining
my translation of a subject through the use of other
complimentary mediums and textures. The manipulation of
the paper surface having an on-going fascination for me.
I am a qualifi ed teacher in Further Education, and gained
a PGCE Teaching Degree in 1997. I teach and tutor weekly
art courses at The Galtres Centre Easingwold and at Ripon
College. I also lead workshops for several local Art Groups – Dunnington Art Group, York Art Society, Scotton Art
Group Knaresborough & St Edwards York. Private tuition to
individuals, families and small groups available on request.
I make an annual pilgrimage to Marlborough College in
Wiltshire to teach watercolour painting for the 3 week
residential Summer School.
I also teach abroad on the Greek islands and Andalucia in
Spain.
As well as undertaking commissions from the commercial
and private sector, I have had 2 major exhibitions in North
Yorkshire including The Helmsley Art Centre. My work is held
in collections throughout the UK, USA, Australia & Europe. |
